2017 Colloquium Series - 2016 US Presidential Election: “The Battleground”

Join us on February 8th when Shahram Hashemi will show us his latest documentary on the 2016 US Presidential Election: “The Battleground”. The screening will be followed by a Q&A session and will take place in Dana Room (Dana Library, 4th floor) from 2:30 - 4:30 pm
 
Shahram Hashemi is a Producer and Documentary Filmmaker at The Front Post, producing for major international media outlets. Most recently, he served as Executive Producer for the Amnesty International "Bringing Human Rights Home"​concert at Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, New York, which featured Imagine Dragons, Madonna and more. He served as Chair of International Relations at Gateway College in Manhattan, and currently lectures about Middle Eastern Politics and social movements at colleges in New York City. 
 
He was elected to the International Board of Amnesty International at its 2015 International Council Meeting in Dublin. He is a former member of the Amnesty International USA's Board of Directors (2007-13) and served as the Section's Treasurer for 4 years and later as Chairman of the Board. He also served as the Chair of AIUSA National Advisory Council from 2013-15.

After graduating with a degree in Finance from Adelphi University's Honor College, he went on to earn a Master's in Human Rights and Economic Development from Columbia University.

Mr. Hashemi is the recipient of the former Mayor of New York City, F.H. LaGuardia Memorial Association Award for his service in the 9/11 rescue efforts.
